How Much of Your OnlyFans Money Comes From Messages? Find Out in 10 Minutes

To find out how much of your OnlyFans income comes from messages, take one full month, split your earnings into subscriptions, paid posts, paid messages and tips, and divide paid messages by the total. That’s your own message share – far more useful than any figure another creator posts online.

Once you know it, you can decide whether your DMs deserve more love, a better offer or a team that covers them while you sleep.

Key takeaways

  • Your message share = paid messages ÷ everything you earned in the same month.
  • Use the same basis everywhere – either before or after the platform fee.
  • Sell with a clear offer, never with pressure or promises you can’t keep.
  • Before handing over your chats, write down your tone, prices and no-gos.

Step 1: Split your month into four parts

Take one complete month, plus the month before so you have something to compare with. Then sort everything into four buckets:

  • Subscriptions – what fans pay to follow you
  • Paid posts – locked posts in your feed
  • Paid messages – content you sell in DMs
  • Tips – extras fans send on top

Two rules keep it clean. Use either “what fans paid” or “after the platform fee” for every bucket, never a mix. And don’t count a custom order twice if its payment already shows up as a paid message. Our guide to OnlyFans stats helps you find each number.

Step 2: Do the maths

Where the money came fromExample month
Subscriptions$2,400
Paid posts$600
Paid messages$3,300
Tips$700
Total$7,000

These are made-up numbers, not a real creator. Here the message share is $3,300 ÷ $7,000 ≈ 47%. That doesn’t mean almost half of every creator’s income comes from DMs, and it doesn’t mean messages caused the other sales either. If you can’t tell which tips came from a conversation, leave them in their own bucket.

What your number tells you

  • Low share, lots of unanswered messages: fans are reaching out and nobody picks up the conversation. That can be an easy place to start.
  • Low share, quiet inbox: maybe your page doesn’t invite conversation yet. A warmer welcome message can help.
  • High share, exhausted you: your DMs work, but they eat your time and energy. That’s where handing them over can make sense.
  • High share, unhappy fans: too many offers, too little connection. Slow down and look at what the subscription itself gives them.

Compare your share with your own previous months – not with someone else’s screenshots.

Selling in DMs without being pushy

The best message sales feel like a nice surprise, not a sales call. Pick one offer you’re happy with and be crystal clear about what the fan gets, the price and when they’ll receive it.

  • Note who got the offer, who bought, any refunds and how long it took you.
  • Compare similar groups of fans or similar weeks – more fans can bring more money without the offer being any better.
  • Never promise personal contact, exclusivity or anything the real service doesn’t include.

Before you hand over your chats

A chat team can only sound like you if you tell it who you are. Before anyone else answers your fans, prepare:

  • a short guide to your tone – the words, emojis and vibe that are so you
  • an approved price list
  • a clear list of no-gos and boundaries
  • a way for questions that need your decision to reach you

The team works inside those rules; it doesn’t get to invent new promises. At Ventures, our chat team covers your messages 24/7 in your voice, within the boundaries you set, and your weekly review shows open requests and any complaints right next to your earnings. Frequently asked questions

How much OnlyFans income usually comes from messages?

It varies a lot from page to page, and we don’t rely on numbers shared online. Work out your own share with one full month of earnings – that’s the figure that actually helps you decide what to do next.

Is it okay to have someone else chat for me?

Yes, chat support is a normal part of full management – as long as fans are never told things that aren’t true. Agree on clear boundaries and don’t let anyone promise personal contact or exclusivity the service doesn’t include. Check the platform’s current rules as well.

Will a chat team make me sound fake?

Not if it has your tone guide, your boundaries and real context about each fan. Good chatters note what fans have told them, so conversations feel continuous. You can always review the tone and ask for changes.
